Honeymoon in Switzerland: Ben & Tle’s Interlaken Couple Session in the Swiss Alps
Switzerland has a way of keeping you guessing.
The day before Ben and Tle's session, snow had fallen across Interlaken. Not just on the mountains in the distance, but down into town itself. Spring had technically arrived, yet winter clearly hadn't finished saying its goodbyes.
By the next morning, everything had changed again.
The streets were quieter. Patches of snow were already melting. Clouds drifted slowly across the peaks while occasional bursts of sunlight lit up the valley. It felt like Switzerland couldn't decide which season it wanted to be.
For Ben and Tle, it was perfect.
They had travelled all the way from Thailand for their honeymoon in Switzerland, and like many couples visiting the Swiss Alps for the first time, they were hoping to experience the landscapes they had seen in photographs for years. What they found was something even better: a place that felt alive and constantly changing.
As a Europe elopement photographer and videographer, these are often the moments we find ourselves drawn to most. Not necessarily the big landmarks or postcard views, but the small pieces in between. The morning coffee before an adventure begins. The laughter that happens when nobody is paying attention. The way a place feels rather than simply how it looks.
Interlaken: The Heart of a Honeymoon in Switzerland
We met early at their hotel in Interlaken.
The town was still waking up. A few people walked to work. Deliveries were being made. The mountains stood quietly in the distance, their peaks still coated in fresh snow from the previous day's storm.
Before heading anywhere, we spent some time around the hotel itself.
No grand plan. No complicated posing.
Just the two of them enjoying a slow morning together.
One of the things we love about documenting couples while they travel is how naturally the story writes itself. There is no need to invent moments when real ones already exist. A glance exchanged while getting ready to leave. A shared laugh over absolutely nothing. The comfortable rhythm that develops between two people who know each other well.
Slow Morning Moments: Coffee, Bakery, and Real Travel Rhythm
We walked into town and stopped at a local bakery.
The smell of fresh pastries drifted through the doorway long before we reached it. Inside, the warmth was a welcome contrast to the cool mountain air outside. Coffee cups arrived, pastries disappeared quickly, and conversation flowed easily.
These might seem like ordinary moments.
In many ways, they are.
But years from now, those ordinary moments are often the ones that bring people back. Not just the destination itself, but the feeling of being there together. Sitting across from each other outside the bakery thousands of kilometres from home. Watching local life pass by. Realising that there is nowhere else you need to be.
For couples planning a honeymoon in Switzerland, this is something worth remembering.
The famous viewpoints matter, of course. The mountain trains, alpine lakes and dramatic landscapes are all part of what makes Switzerland special. But some of the best memories often happen between those headline attractions.
Walking Through Interlaken: Between Winter and Spring
After breakfast, we wandered back into Interlaken.
The weather kept changing its mind.
Clouds moved quickly over the mountains. Sunlight would break through for a few minutes at a time, then disappear again. Snow remained on higher peaks while the valley already showed early signs of spring.
Jungfrau region framed everything in the background, still covered in white, while the lower paths showed melting snow and early greenery.
This contrast is something you only really get during shoulder seasons in Switzerland.
Not fully winter. Not fully spring.
Somewhere in between.
For couples visiting for a honeymoon in Switzerland, this period often becomes the most visually interesting time to travel, even if it wasn’t what they originally expected.
Lake Brienz: The Changing Colour of the Swiss Alps
By mid-morning, we reached the lake.
The weather spent most of the morning changing its mind.
One moment the mountains disappeared behind a layer of cloud. A few minutes later, the sun would break through and suddenly the lake turned a bright shade of turquoise, almost glowing against the darker landscape around it.
The fresh snow remained visible higher up, creating beautiful contrast against the lower valleys where flowers had already started blooming.
Spring in Switzerland can feel like two seasons happening at once.
And honestly, that's part of its charm.
Ben and Tle never seemed to mind the unpredictability.
In fact, it became part of the experience. Every shift in the weather revealed a slightly different version of Interlaken. Snow-covered peaks in one direction, signs of spring in another, and that unmistakable blue-green water tying everything together.
It felt less like visiting a destination and more like watching the landscape perform throughout the morning.
Interlaken is often associated with adventure sports, mountain excursions and dramatic alpine landscapes. While all of those things certainly exist, it is also a wonderful place for couples who want to slow down.
You don't always need to reach a mountain summit to experience Switzerland.
Sometimes all it takes is a walk through town, coffee in hand, with the Alps surrounding you in every direction.
That's one reason why Interlaken remains one of our favourite locations for couples visiting Switzerland.
It offers easy access to incredible scenery while still feeling welcoming and relaxed. Whether you're planning a honeymoon, anniversary trip, engagement session or even a Switzerland elopement, it provides countless opportunities to create meaningful memories without spending the entire day travelling between locations.
As a Switzerland photographer and videographer, we often encourage couples to leave space for spontaneity.
The weather might change.
The light might surprise you.
You may discover a quiet corner you hadn't planned to visit.
Some of the strongest photographs come from embracing those unexpected moments rather than trying to control every detail.
Ben and Tle's morning in Interlaken was a perfect example of that.
A little snow.
A little sunshine.
A few pastries.
A lot of laughter.
Nothing extravagant.
Just a honeymoon in Switzerland exactly as it happened.
And sometimes that's more than enough.
Why Elopement and Honeymoon Photography Overlap in Switzerland
Even though this session was a honeymoon, the approach is very similar to an elopement.
Both are about:
slowing down
focusing on connection instead of posing
working with natural environments
building a visual story of a shared experience
Many couples who come to Switzerland for an elopement often extend their trip into a honeymoon. Others come only for travel and end up wanting something more intentional documented.
This overlap is why Switzerland has become one of the most requested destinations for intimate photography and videography.
Whether it is an elopement, engagement, or honeymoon, the environment does most of the storytelling.
The role of a photographer here is not to control the scene, but to observe it.
