Why “Seiji Mori”?

It’s probably the question that we have to answer the most.

Clovis was born in France but somehow got a Japanese second name (probably because he has an Aïkido master as a father). Until today, he never really got the chance to use “聖児 Seiji” as a name, much to his regret. This was a golden opportunity to finally use it as an alias for his creative work.

Theeda was born in Thaïland and is of Chinese descent. She was given the name “森 Sen” (Chinese). As Chinese and Japanese share the same characters, “Sen” becomes “Mori” in Japanese.

And voilà! Seiji Mori Studio was born!

Hungry for adventure and passionate about cinema, I took my first photos 15 years ago.

Growing up in Indonesia, I developed my “eye” through my travels and experiences.

Guided by travel, aerial and underwater photography, I gradually turned to portrait photography after I met my muse: Theeda.

Little by little, it led to the creation of Seiji Mori Studio, with which I try to share my approach of storytelling and to take photos of your precious moments with authenticity and sincerity.

It would be quite long if I had to start telling my story. I’d rather make it short and tell you how I became a photographer.

I have to thank Clovis who inspires me, guides me and shares his world with me where I found myself and my dream.

Photography, for me, is a universal language that can be spoken through lights and shadows, colors, emotions, perceptions and imagination. Passion is key and it never leaves me. Small details are my favorite dish that keep me hungry and always asking for more. It’s the room of creativity where I love to stay.

I make precious moments last forever and that makes me alive. I express them through my mind, my eyes and my lens.
