They drove nearly five hours to come to Lyon just to spend an evening with us, discover the city through our eyes, and begin telling their story before their wedding near Angers.

We started the session on the majestic Place des Terreaux, in front of the famous Museum of Fine Arts and the impressive Lyon City Hall. This location is perfect to begin an engagement session: bright stone, strong architectural lines and a chic yet lively atmosphere that immediately feels cinematic.

There was a mix of excitement and shyness in the air. The first minutes of a session are always special: walking, talking, joking… and slowly, the magic settles in.

Esther and Edwin quickly forgot about the camera. Their connection appeared naturally: knowing glances, spontaneous laughter, gentle gestures. This kind of connection cannot be created — it simply happens.

We left Place des Terreaux and slowly walked toward the riverbanks. The goal was never to rush from one photo spot to another, but to turn the session into a real прогулade through the city.

This is where the best images are born: between conversations, at the corner of a sidewalk, during unexpected laughter.

THE SAÔNE RIVERBANKS

SUN, SOFTNESS & FREEDOM

When we reached the Saône riverbanks, the light began to change — that precise moment when the sun becomes warmer, softer, almost golden.

The quays are one of Lyon’s favorite places to sit, talk and watch time pass. For an engagement session, it is the perfect setting: lively without being overwhelming, bright without being harsh.

Esther and Edwin sat by the water, bathed in late-afternoon sun. There was no staging anymore. Just them, the city, the light, and the feeling of a suspended moment.

We continued toward a bridge over the Saône. Lyon’s bridges offer open perspectives and a feeling of being between two worlds — the moving city on one side, the flowing water on the other.

The sun slowly disappeared behind the buildings, wrapping Esther and Edwin in warm, glowing light.

This moment is always short. Too short. But it often creates the most powerful images.
