This intimate wedding at Domaine Arbaud was exactly that—a relaxed summer celebration where nothing felt rushed. Friends and family travelled from across Europe and beyond to gather in the south of France, turning a beautiful Provençal estate into a place filled with laughter, music and long conversations beneath the summer sky.
The bride, Jana, is German. The groom, Benoît, is French. Their story began thousands of kilometres away in Mexico, and although they chose Provence for their wedding, little pieces of that chapter quietly found their way into the day.
At the beginning of July, Provence was everything you imagine it to be. Warm sunshine, blue skies and a gentle breeze drifting through the gardens. The wind occasionally reminded everyone it had arrived too, but it only made the summer heat more comfortable and gave movement to dresses, veils and the surrounding trees.
This wasn't a wedding built around a strict schedule.
It was a wedding built around people.

One after another, friends and family shared speeches that moved effortlessly between laughter and tears. Every story revealed another chapter of Jana and Benoît's journey together, reminding everyone that the best ceremonies rarely need much decoration.
The people are enough.
A little piece of Mexico in Provence
The cocktail hour brought another personal touch.
To celebrate the country where their story first began, the couple invited Compas Latino to perform live throughout the afternoon. Before long, the gardens were filled with Latin rhythms as guests gathered with drinks in hand, chatting beneath the Provençal sun.
Eventually, Jana and Benoît joined the musicians for a few dances of their own.
It wasn't a performance.
It was simply two people reliving a place that had changed their lives, surrounded by the people who mattered most.
Champagne, golden light and twenty quiet minutes together
As dinner preparations continued, we stole the couple away for a short walk around the estate.
Nothing formal.
Just two glasses of champagne, warm evening light and a few minutes to slow down after a day that had passed far too quickly.
Sitting beside the swimming pool with their feet in the water, laughing at absolutely nothing.
Sometimes those are the moments that feel the most like real life.
Dinner beneath the Provençal sky
Long tables stretched beneath glowing garlands as everyone gathered outdoors for dinner.
The atmosphere felt wonderfully relaxed. Wine glasses clinked, conversations drifted from one end of the table to the other, and laughter seemed to arrive almost as often as the next course.
There was no rush to move the evening along.
Everyone simply enjoyed being together.
Just before the last daylight disappeared, we quietly borrowed Jana and Benoît for a few more minutes.
The sky had turned shades of pink and violet, and a delicate moon had already appeared above Domaine Arbaud.
It was impossible to resist.
Those final silhouettes beneath the colourful evening sky, followed by a quiet dance beneath the glowing garlands, became some of our favourite photographs from the entire wedding.
A few minutes later, they were back at the table before anyone had really noticed they were gone.
A celebration of French traditions
The evening continued with another joyful tradition.
Instead of a classic wedding cake, Jana and Benoît celebrated with a croquembouche, one of France's most iconic wedding desserts.
Then came one of the liveliest moments of the evening.
With plenty of encouragement from their guests, Benoît opened a bottle of champagne the traditional sabrage way, using a sabre to remove the top of the bottle in spectacular fashion.
Cheers erupted across the courtyard as glasses were quickly filled for another toast.
It was impossible not to smile.
Dancing into the warm summer night
Their first dance reflected exactly who they are.
No grand choreography.
No dramatic performance.
Just two slightly shy newlyweds smiling, laughing and quietly enjoying the moment together.
Once everyone joined them on the dance floor, the atmosphere quickly became more energetic.
Friends danced barefoot.
Glasses were refilled.
Music carried late into the night.
Our final image of the evening captured Benoît walking through the celebration with a tray of shots in his hands, making sure nobody was left out of the party.
A perfect ending to a day that never tried to be anything other than itself.

Most of these photographs were created in short sessions throughout the day. A relaxed walk during golden hour and another five minutes as the sky turned pink were all we needed before the couple returned to their guests.
