Mid-July in Corsica is exactly what you might imagine: warm, bright, and made for spending as much of the wedding day outdoors as possible.
For Marie-Camille and Thibaud, their wedding at Domaine du Reginu brought together everything they wanted from the day — an elegant setting, plenty of energy, good food, friends and family travelling from different parts of the world, and a celebration that never felt too formal.
It was an intimate French wedding, but with the feeling of a destination celebration.
A Wedding in the Corsican Countryside
Located in the Balagne region of Corsica, Domaine du Reginu makes a beautiful setting for a wedding surrounded by the island's landscape.
Rather than keeping the entire celebration indoors, Marie-Camille and Thibaud made the most of the outdoors. The day moved naturally between the ceremony, cocktails, dinner and party, with the Corsican countryside always part of the backdrop.
Their guests had travelled from around the world to celebrate with them, which gave the wedding an international atmosphere despite the couple themselves living in France.
And that is part of what makes Corsica interesting for a wedding.
It feels unmistakably French, but once you arrive on the island, the landscape, pace and atmosphere are completely different from the mainland.
Elegant, Chic — But Never Too Formal
The styling was elegant and chic without making the day feel overly structured.
There was a sense of occasion, but also plenty of room for people to relax, move around and enjoy themselves.
The symbolic ceremony kept things personal and intimate, while the rest of the day gradually became more informal and energetic.
That balance carried through the whole wedding: polished enough to feel special, but relaxed enough that everyone could actually enjoy it.
For us, those are often the weddings that are the most interesting to photograph.
Not every moment needs to be perfectly composed. Sometimes the best photographs happen when people simply stop thinking about the camera.
Bare Feet, Mountains and a Late Cocktail
One of our favourite moments happened later in the cocktail.
With the sun still up and the mountains behind the pool, Marie-Camille and Thibaud simply dipped their feet into the water.
Nothing complicated. No elaborate setup.
Just the two of them taking a moment to cool down and enjoy where they were.
It was also a good reminder of why Corsica works so well for couples who want an outdoor wedding.
You can go from an elegant wedding reception to sitting by the pool with your feet in the water, with mountains in the background, without it feeling out of place.
Dinner Under the Lights
As evening arrived, the celebration moved towards dinner beneath strings of lights.
The atmosphere changed with the fading daylight, but the energy of the wedding didn't.
Long dinners, conversations between guests, glasses being raised and music slowly taking over the evening are part of what makes an outdoor summer wedding in Corsica so appealing.
There was something very relaxed about the whole scene.
No need to rush everyone inside because the weather was on their side.
No need to fill every minute of the schedule.
Just a long Corsican summer evening with everyone together.
Forget Cutting the Croquembouche
The cake presentation was followed by one of those moments where the energy of the entire wedding seems to shift up a gear.
A wheel of sparklers lit up behind them as everyone gathered around, creating a burst of light against the darkness.
Then, the cake.
Or rather, what was supposed to be the cake.
Instead of politely cutting the traditional French croquembouche, Marie-Camille and Thibaud decided to smash it with a bottle of champagne.
It was probably a better reflection of the evening than a perfectly executed cake cutting ever could have been.
And the crowd absolutely went with it.
Music and an Outdoor Party
Then came the dancing.
The party stayed outdoors, surrounded by the warm summer night, with guests who had travelled from different corners of the world all ending up on the same dance floor.
It was loud, lively and completely unreserved.
